SCHEDULE? What schedule!?
For the entire month we spent in Ontario, Cooper has had no schedule at all, and has reverted back to only sleeping 2-3 hours at a time at night. He actually did better as a wee newborn then he is doing right now. He wants to eat all the time and he stirs through the night to do so. He’s still being swaddled at night (to start with) but after the first time he eats, mommy undoes the swaddle and he sleeps freely the rest of the night. I think he is slowly outgrowing his swaddle (he tries to break lose most nights), but he tends to wake himself up with his crazy arms, so it’s hard to let it go completely, and he seems to sleep for his longest stretch when he is in it.
EVERYTHING IN THE MOUTH -- This month can be summed up in one sentence – EVERYTHING IN THE MOUTH. Cooper has finally found his hands and can grasp objects easily. And he puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. He chops down on objects, blankets, and fists, all day long. We think that he is starting to teeth, because he really wants to bite and acts frustrated about it as he chomps down hard. He loves to bite HARD on our fingers. OUCH!
HANDS HANDS HANDS -- He is also fascinated with hands. He likes his own. And he especially love his mom and dads. He likes when they show him their fingers and count to five. And he loves hand songs like itsy bitsy spider and paddy cake. Forget all the toys we’ve been buying him, he is most excited about fingers and hands and could spend all day playing with them.
BIG SMILES – Cooper loves to smile and is a very happy baby. He smiles at us when we talk to him, play with him, or just about anything!
SEEING FAR AND WIDE – Cooper has really started to see distance now. He can track us across the room and turns his head when he is called. He sees everything very well now and loves to look at faces, animals, and toys. And Let’s not forget sports. He loves TV, and especially football and hockey, much to his dad’s delight!
PHINNEGAN – Cooper has really started to track Phinnegan now. He is very interested in his dog and really likes him! Phinnegan, on the other hand, isn’t so sure this baby is the bees knees, and is secretly wondering when it will just be his mom and dad and him again!
FEET AND TOES – Cooper loves to grab his feet and toes and plays with them in delight. Hey – those are my toes! He’s started to pull of his socks, so outfits with feet work best at the moment.
SOCIAL BUTTERFLY – Cooper did so well when we were home and loved interacting with all the new and different people. He loved big and small people and didn’t mind being passed around. Now that he’s back home from his holiday, he’s wondering where all the people went and where the next party is.
COOPER IS STANDING – He loves to stand on his feet all the time while being held upright. And he smiles like crazy while doing it. I think he’s getting tired of being on his back all long, and loves to bear weight on his feet. I think a saucer isn’t too far away from being his next favorite thing.
SITTING – Cooper has just started to sit by himself, unassisted for a few minutes at a time before toppling over. He is bent hard at the waste and uses his hands to try to balance. He’s not very good at it yet, but it won’t be long before he gets better and better at this balance thing.
FAMILY – Cooper has started to know us now, and I think he knows he belongs to us. It’s so cute the way he lights up when he sees us! He loves his mom and dad and has started to know his grandparents too! I think he likes this clan of his.
BABY TALK – Cooper is making all kinds of sounds. Ooh ya ya. A-gooooo. Ahhh. Ooooo. Loud and soft and everything in-between. He loves telling stories and is also starting to blow bubbles and make funny noises. He’s squeaking and sqawking and talking up a storm.
CUDDLE BEAR – Cooper likes to cuddle, and curl up with his mom and dad. He likes to be held while sleeping and he likes to hold soft blankets and teddy bears and cuddle them when he gets tired. His mom loves that he is such a cuddle monkey and hope it never stops!
Stayed tuned for some 4 month videos of Cooper!
