Oh my goodness – how did that even happen?
Cooper is now 5 months old, and growing bigger and more adorable every day. We weighed him today (on the big scale and with his clothes and diaper on, so it might not be completely accurate) and he is 18 pounds! And just the other day, we switched to the number 3 diapers (16-28 pounds).
Today was a big day for our little boy with lots of new firsts!
We got rid of the little blue bassinet and put the bedroom bassinet in its place, although this station won’t last long either. But for now, we have it beside the computer for Cooper to lay in first thing in the morning when mommy checks her email.
We replaced the bedroom bassinet with a playpen! Somewhere to put Cooper while mommy has a shower and gets dressed. Right now we have it set on the basinet level, which is higher than his other basinet, but it won’t be for long. Cooper loved his new play area this morning when we put him in it.
We still have his infant play mat – he can’t sit up all by himself yet, so he still enjoys laying on his back and playing underneath his toys for now, but we have also introduced a saucer! We put Cooper in it today for the first time and at first he just looked around all wide-eyed and didn’t know what to do, but within a few minutes he was hooked and was playing with all the toys and wouldn’t even look up when he called him. The look of concentration was priceless!
We also put Cooper in his highchair today for the first time, just to see what he would do – and he loved it! He sat up at the table with mommy and daddy while they ate dinner, looked around, and played with some of his toys. It was so strange, but wonderful, having a 3rd little person at the dinner table with us!
We also went out and bought a baby gate – he’s not quite on the move yet (aside from that magic day that mommy still has no idea about and some scooting), but we have a feeling one day soon we will have a need for the gate when he makes his first crawl. We’ll keep it in the box for now though, because he’s still in that transition stage where he still enjoys laying on his back and can’t sit up by himself yet. But at least we have it ready when the time comes!
At the end of the day, Cooper was exhausted and cried into his mommy and daddy’s arms. He just needed to be held and have a good cuddle. Maybe it was too much stimulation for one day, but he sure had fun while he was doing it!
