The Five Month Poop Strike!

Cooper has decided to go on poop strike.

And he is normally a poop'n machine.

For the last 2 weeks, he has only pooped 3 times! After 3 days, then 5 days, then 6 days! Which is very strange since he usually goes 4-8 times a DAY since he's been born. And nothing else has changed. We hasn't introduced food yet, and he's eating breast milk every 2 hours -- which is what has been freaking us out. Where do you even put all that milk for 6 days without pooping????

So I just got off the phone with his nurse. She said that it is still considered NORMAL for a breastfed baby to go 4-7 days without poop, so he's still in the safe zone. Unless we see blood in stool or he pushes for long periods of time or seems really constipated and fussy. Then we might try giving him a couple ounces of fruit juice -- not watered down. She said the sugar in the juice will act as a laxative and help him go. She said apple would be good to start. If nothing happens, pear juice, or then prune juice -- which is the big guns.

But again, she said it's normal -- just to keep our eye on it.

And here's a news flash -- HE JUST POOPED!!!

After six whole days -- WOHOOO!!!

Happy times.
