Pediatrician Update -- 2month "well-baby checkup"

Cooper saw Dr. Scott again today and had a busy appointment.

He now weights 12lb 8oz -- not quite double his birthweight of 6lb 13oz... but getting close.
And he now measures 24" long -- a full two feet. Meaning he's grown over 3 inches since he was born.

He's in the 90th percentile for length and 75th percentile for weight among 2 month old babies!!

He also got 3 vaccines today - 1 oral and 2 injections. He took them like a champ... just a minute or two of wailing after the injections before he calmed down again, and settled in for a little grocery shopping over at Trader Joe's.

He'll be in Canada for his 4 month birthday, so he'll be back in 5 weeks for his 4 month vaccinations -- more needles. Poor guy!

This month they tell us he'll be making cooing noises and converse with parents (he already does that), focus vision on a face for seeral seconds and follow moving targets (he already does that, but really favors his right -- he has difficulty focusing on anything or anyone to his left), pacify himslef with fingers or thumb (does that a little) and smile and respond during conversation, seeming to enjoy people (check -- he's doing that too!)

Check out Cooper's two bandaids from his pokes today.

  1. Hi Lisa,

Yes, you're right, Ella is still tiny, she's 27 inches long and 14.5 pounds! She's in the 55 percentile for height and the 10th percentile for weight. Apparently Richard was always a little bean pole!

You'll notice that the growth slows down after 3 months, otherwise, Cooper would weigh 1000 pounds on his 1st birthday!

Let me know how things go with the vaccines. We've opted to postpone Ella's vaccine's until she's 9 months.

  2. It's so funny because when he was in the womb, he was in the 5th percentile for bo weight and they were all freaking out. Now look at him! 90 percentile. Just goes to show you that things can change quick.

I am sooo nervous about getting is vaccines, after all the stuff I read, but our ped really wanted us to get them for him before we travelled. So far so good. And she combined as many as she could into one shot, so as to avoid too many pokes.

I can't beleive Ella still only weighs less than 15 pounds. Cooper will be bigger than her at christmas I bet! Good God!!

  3. Hi Lisa,

I've enjoyed your blog all about Cooper. My daughter is just a few weeks behind him. It's fun to see what to look forward to. I also love comparing our schedules. Unfortunately mine has colic which makes routines very hard to follow and mommy loves routines. . .

I'm so glad Cooper had a great appt.!
