Life Day, Family Day, Memories, and Gratitude

The last few weeks were tough, happy, sad, and filled with gratitude and sorrow.

But we made it through – as a family.  And we tried to stay in the present moment and be thankful for all our blessings.

Nana and papa returned home from their cruise to South America, and came up for a visit to see Cooper.   We actually forgot to formally celebrate Cooper’s ‘life day’ on the 13th, with so many things on our minds.  But nana and papa were here for it and everyday is an amazing celebration of Cooper’s life.

Here we are having a nice family dinner with some appies to start.

And here is Cooper a few days later, the day we offically celebrated life day with him.

Some more appies, a few presents, and a lot of love!

We are so blessed to have you in our lives Cooper and love that we can celebrate the day you were created in Denver – three years ago, in a little dish!

And then out for dinner and Cooper had a special treat – ice-cream for dessert!

Home for a bath.

Cooper’s favorite song right now is ‘I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.    Here he is checking him out on you tube!

And now for Cooper’s performance.  Go Cooper go!

He loves wearing the hat and everything while he performs.

Family Day, November 18th, marked the one year anniversary of grandma’s death, and also the third anniversary of the day Cooper was placed inside my tummy, and we became a family.   What a strange thing, that it happened on the same day.   It’s hard to not think of that as some sort of cosmic sign, that Cooper and my mom will somehow always be connected.    The day we gained and family member and lost a family member – reminding us that life is so precious, and that family is the most important thing in the world.

We spent the evening at Grandpa’s house, eating some of grandma’s favorite appetizers, thinking about her, and after Cooper went to bed, going into the hottub and then watching her favorite movie – Under the Tuscan Sun.

Then the next day we went to Stratford, a place with wonderful memories of times we shared with my mom, and  spent the day together as a family.

First stop, Tango coffee shop, where Cooper had a muffin and his first very own “steamer”!  (Warm milk topped with some froth in a small esspresso mug)

Next we did some shopping downtown.  Oh how I wish Grandma was here to shop with.   It’s just not the same without her.\

Cooper had fun in the toy store and then we headed down to the river to see the ducks.  They were draining the river, so things looked a little different, but Cooper enjoyed chasing and feeding the ducks anyway.

And then out to Pazzo’s, a favorite place of my mom’s for some wine and pizza, before he headed back home.

It was a long, emotional, sad, and happy day.

Happy Family Day Cooper and Grandma – I love you both. xox
