Mommy Gives Cooper A Bottle For the First Time

Well, it’s official...  weaning has begun.  (yay and sniff sniff all at once).

Up until now, Cooper has gradually weaned himself -- increasing food, while decreasing his breastfeeding, so that now he’s only breastfeeding before his noon time nap, and at night.

Mommy decided to breastfeed for a full year, due to all the benefits listed in the pediatric community, so a slow and gradual wean at Cooper’s pace, has always been the way mommy wanted to stop breastfeeding.   But this past week, Mommy realized, that with Cooper’s first birthday fast approaching (a month and a half away), the fact that he still isn’t sleep through the night (due to waking up and wanting milk), and the kicker – the fact that Cooper’s new top teeth have started rubbing on his mommy and hurting her (which just happened this week), mommy has decided to give Cooper a little push, and wean him off his noon time breastfeeding before his nap by substituting breastfeeding with a bottle.  Sure, Cooper has had bottles before, but usually only by daddy.   But with the weekend over and daddy back at work, today, mommy was the one who gave Cooper the bottle.   Cooper was a little confused by took the bottle and drank it all up, but then proceeded to cry when it was all gone and wouldn’t go down for his nap.  Mommy had to give in and breastfeed him anyway, but it was a step.  And we’ll try again tomorrow!   Once Cooper is officially weaned off the noon time feeding, mommy will move on to the night feedings, and hopefully have Cooper all weaned off by his first birthday.

That’s the plan, anyway!
