What’s Cooper Like At 8 Months Old

IMG_1198

Where do I even start???

Maybe I should start by asking where our baby went?!  Because he’s suddenly turning into a little toddler.

Here are the most notable things that Cooper is doing at 8 Months Old:

- He is pulling himself to standing.

- He stands one-handed and holds on.

- He let’s go of the edge for moments at a time. (He’s very brave and has no problem letting go, but then falls after a few seconds)

- He is walking along the sides of furniture and his play pens and crib.

- He is crawling across the floor (without falling).

- He is saying ma-ma and da-da

- He is making more new sounds and trying new consonants.

- He claps (open handed)

- He claps and smiles and coos along to his baby Einstein videos.

- He is very interested in birds and cars and dogs.   And seems to know just what they are.

- He knows exactly what a converter is and as soon as he holds it he looks at the TV to see if the channel will change.

- He is eating his foods thicker (still puréed) and without breast milk added:   so far his palette includes banana, apple, mango, papaya, pears, prunes, cantaloupe, avocado, sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots, peas, green beans, and cauliflower.   And he loves his food so much!

- His top tooth has broken through (for a total of 3 teeth), and the other top tooth is so close to breaking through too.

- He sits up or stands up in bed now when he cries and calls out for ma-ma.

- He loves little things like buttons and zippers and tags and can point to them and use his pincher grasp to get them.

- He clearly knows his mom, dad, dog, grandparents, and other key things and people.

- He is pooing every 2-4 days now and it’s solid but mushy.

-He pulls things off now – hats, mits, shoes, sunglasses.     (No ma-ma I don’t want it!)

- He suddenly HATES having his diaper and clothes changed.  Up until now he used to love it.   Now he cries the second you put him on his changing mat.

- He has a mind of his own and knows exactly what he wants, and he’s started to cry if he doesn’t get it. (No tantrums yet thankfully, as the art of distraction still works wonderfully).

- He is ticklish under his arms, neck, tummy, and toes.

- He finds things funny and loves peeks and other games.  They make him laugh out loud.

- He smiles constantly and loves us to sing songs to him.

- He blows bubbles, makes funny sounds, and seems to know he’s being funny.

- He loves looking in the mirror at himself and others.

- He’s a nosy little baby and cranes his head to see everything and anybody within his peripheral vision.

- He’s loves us to walk him around the house, pointing to things and telling him what it is.

- His hair is coming in – still slowly – but it’s growing more every day.

- His eyes are still blue, so we’re thinking that they will probably stay this way.

- He has a pretty stable sleeping/bedtime routine right now:    He gets up at 8:30am has milk, eats breakfast at around 10:30, has milk at noon followed by a nap, has an afternoon snack at 2:30, his dinner at around 5:30.  Then he has some milk at around 7.   Sooth down and story time happens at 8:00.  And he has some milk and lullaby’s and goes to bed between 8:30 and 9pm.

But unfortunately due to teething and other bad habits, he is still up all night long.   Mommy is getting exhausted with all this night nursing and is hoping at 9 months to put a stop to some of it.   For now though, let’s just get that other top tooth through and move into our new house!

All in all, he is so adorable and cute and such a HAPPY HAPPY BABY!!!   We love him so much and can’t believe how blessed we are to have him in our lives.    He’s perfect in every way.  And he’s growing so fast we can’t believe it!

“Look at me mom – no hands!!”
