Mothers Day Weekend 2011

Mother’s Day weekend has come and gone – the first ever Mother’s Day that mommy has spent without grandma.  It was a difficult but beautiful day in grandma’s memory.   I wish you could be here mom, I still need you so much and I know you’d be so amazed at what a beautiful and wonderful person, our little Cooper is.   He loves his grandma and knows you are always in his heart.

On mothers day morning, we walked down to grandma’s memory bench and had a French vanilla cappuccino and egg home-style muffin that grandma used to love.   Grandpa did such a nice job with the bench and I know my mom would love it.  It’s a beautiful spot to sit and watch the water and think of my mom.

Here’s grandma’s bench with her house in behind.  What a perfect spot.

And we had a walk to the park – Cooper loves going down the slide.  More more!

All by himself.

It’s a long walk back to grandpa’s though, so he takes a break with a shoulder ride.

In the afternoon we went to the nursery to buy a tree to plant in Grandma’s honour.  A beautiful gift from mommy’s friend Kimber and family, which is filled with wonderful meaning.

We picked out a weeping willow tree and a peach tree.   I have to laugh because my mom would have said, not a weeping willow!  he he.  I love them, but she was always saying that the root system was awful.  Don’t worry mom, we’ll put it at the back of the yard and when it gets big enough, we can have a picnic underneath it.

We also picked out a peach tree that will hopefully bare some fruit in the years to come.  there is something wonderfully comforting in a tree that bares fruit and I will always think of my mom and wonderful summer peaches.

Cooper stops to smell the tulips.   “It tickles my nose!”

We had Chinese Food for dinner, one of Grandma’s favorites, and after dinner went out back to plant the trees.

Thank you for making it such a special mothers day for me Cooper.  You are mommy’s miracle baby. xoxo
