It's Cooper's great grandma's birthday today. And in fact, it's also the anniversary of the day she died. How strange and wonderful to be born and die on the same day. She was such an amazing woman, and I wish she was here to meet Cooper, because I know she would have loved him.
But she is sending Cooper all her strength, hope, and love -- and I know she is looking down smiling. Mommy is so proud to have such an amazing grandma with so many loving and wonderful memories and she just knows that Cooper will have the same relationship with his grandma too. And with his nana.
Grandma's are wonderful people. Here's to grandma's!
Here's a picture of Mommy and her grandma (Cooper's great grandma)
Here's one of 3 generations: mommy, grandma, and greatgrandma -- enjoying life!
And here's the long line of wonderful women that Cooper comes from: (Great grandma, her grandma, and her mom in the first picture -- that's Cooper's great grandma, his great great grandma and his great great great grandma!). The second picture is greatgrandma, grandma, great great grandma and baby mommy! And below is mommy, Cooper, and grandma (another wonderful 3 generations!)
And speaking of strong amazing women, grandma got through her second chemo treatment today. She is strong and brave and filled with love, hope, and faith. And we all know that with a positive attitude, hope, and a firm belief that we can overcome any obstacle in our way, even when the odds are stacked against us, that she is beating this cancer, one day at a time. Just like his nana beat her breast cancer, many years ago and is now cancer free!
Yes, it's true, Cooper comes from a long long line and wonderful, strong, amazing grandma's. Here is mommy with both Cooper's grandma's a couple days before he was born.
And here he is again surrounding by his grandma's right after he was born. How many babies were lucky enough to have both their grandma's witness them being born? But you were Cooper! They were both there and watched you come into the world and take your first breath.

Yes. Today is a wonderful day to reflect on the stregth and beauty and love of grandma's everywhere. Grandma's are wise and loving and gentle and spoil us rotten. Thank goodness for grandma's!
And in honor of Kay Emlsie Day -- Cooper pulled himself up for the very first time. It's too bad mommy MISSED the whole thing. She was typing this on her computer and looked over and to her surprise Cooper had pulled himself up and was just standing there, holding onto the top of his play yard, smiling at me. I can't believe I missed it! But not to worry, I suspect he'll do it again soon! And when he does, mommy will be waiting with the camera.

Sweet story, Lisa! And I particularly love the picture of the hands, with the two rings visible, and the picture of Cooper with his mother and grandmother -- heartwarming.
ReplyDeleteHappy Kay Elmslie's Birthday!
love, Uncle John
