Grandma’s Life Day Celebration

Linda_2[1]

Three weeks ago, on Saturday June 4th, we celebrated Grandma’s lifeday celebration.

It was a beautiful day filled with family and friends, outside at Grandma’s home in Kincardine – just as she would have wanted it.   The waves were rolling in, the sun was shining (despite rain and thunder storms in the morning and a complete power outage for the entire day), the birds were singing, and the sky was blue.

About 130 people came to celebrate Linda’s life.   Lisa and Peter spoke about Linda, and then her family let off balloon in her memory.  They soared through the sky right up to heaven. It was an emotional day, and one we wish we didn’t have to have, but feel good about honoring her life in the exact way that she lived it.

The only thing wrong with the day was that Grandma was not here with us.  But I know she was shining down in spirit.   We love you mom.   And miss you everyday.

Family and friends mingled through her background, talking and sharing old memories, sat on her memory bench, and even splashed in the water.

It was a lovely day.

Here’s a picture of our family before.

The Elmslie’s stayed over, and we all had a nice family night and morning together, remembering Linda. We had dinner out and a nice time back and Lisa and Dave’s afterwards, where it was fun to share stories and think about my mom.

It was great to see everyone and Cooper got to spend some time with his cousin Ella, which was really nice.

After everyone left for home, Mommy, daddy, Cooper, and Grandpa spent a nice quiet afternoon and evening together and took a big breath.  It had been a long time leading up to this weekend and we were drained.   As we looked back over the weekend though, we knew my mom would have loved the whole thing.  She was an amazing women who made an impact in so many people’s lives and she will be forever in our hearts.

Forever and ever.
